About The Position

WM is seeking a Heavy Duty/ Commercial Truck Mechanic to join their team. This role offers a safer work environment, career progression, stability, and a focus on employee well-being. The mechanic will be responsible for fixing trucks and equipment that service millions of customers across North America, using modern tools and procedures on diesel and CNG trucks. The position is based in a repair/maintenance shop at the Sechelt Hauling Site.

Requirements

• Licensed Heavy Duty Mechanic or Truck and Transport Mechanic.
• 2 years of relevant work experience
• A valid drivers license, with an acceptable driving record
• Be over 18 years of age.
• Legally eligible to work in Canada
• Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Successfully complete and pass pre-employment drug screen and physical.

Nice To Haves

• CVIP certification
• A valid Class 1 or Class 3 driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on a wide range of vehicles and equipment.
• Estimates time and material costs on vehicle repairs and new parts.
• Perform your work within our Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
• Respond to service calls for emergency breakdowns.
• Safety checks on vehicles.
• Complete required paperwork, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
• Assisting senior Mechanics in the completion of project work.
• Reviews, completes, or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
• Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards and perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
