SCR Mining and Tunnelling is currently seeking experienced and safety-focused Heavy Duty Mechanics to join our underground mining operations team at Bissett, Manitoba. The primary role of the heavy-duty equipment Mechanic is to perform preventive maintenance and repairs to diesel, electrical, hydraulic and air operated equipment. This includes mobile equipment, drills, small tools, and miscellaneous equipment used in the mining industry. Candidate must be experienced with reading blueprints and maintaining all types of heavy-duty mining equipment. There are multiple existing vacancies for this position.

Requirements

Trade Certification
Three (3) years’ experience in maintenance and repairs of underground mining equipment
Ability to understand and follow instructions
Positive attitude with the ability to work collaboratively within a team
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada at the time of application.
Employer sponsorship or work permit support is not available for this role.

Experienced with reading blueprints

Responsibilities

Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required
Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems
Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturer specifications
Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment
Follow daily line-ups, safety procedures, and Manitoba Regulation 212/2011 – Operation of Mines Regulation
Always be physically and mentally fit for work
Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions as required to perform duties in a safe and efficient manner
Must be able to follow proper procedure to ensure safety and to control equipment damage
