THE WORK: You’ll conduct thorough inspections of electrical installations related to transportation projects on theState Highway System (SHS) and Metro Rail, ensuring compliance with approved plans, specifications, and applicable safety standards (such as NEC, local codes, and transportation-specific regulations). Day work and Night work is anticipated. You’ll review and verify the quality, quantity, and type of electrical materials and equipment being used on-site, ensuring they meet contract specifications, manufacturer’s instructions, and regulatory requirements. You’ll coordinate and communicate with contractors, engineers, designers, and regulatory agencies to ensure proper electrical installation practices are followed and that any issues are promptly addressed. You’ll oversee and document the testing, commissioning, and functional verification of electrical systems (such as street lighting, traffic signals, and power distribution), ensuring they operate in compliance with project requirements and safety standards. You’ll inspect the installation of electrical wiring, conduits, junction boxes, and grounding systems, verifying that installations are completed according to design drawings, specifications, and industry standards. You’ll monitor electrical installations for safety hazards and ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and other safety regulations to prevent workplace accidents or injuries during electrical work and installation. You’ll maintain detailed records of all electrical inspections, including non-compliance issues, corrective actions taken, and final approval. Submit daily, weekly, or monthly inspection reports to the project manager and other stakeholders. You’ll review proposed change orders and assess their impact on electrical systems, providing input to the project team regarding the necessary adjustments to scope, schedule, and cost for electrical components. You’ll coordinate and schedule third-party inspections and specialized electrical testing (e.g., high-voltage testing, grounding system tests) to ensure that all electrical systems are verified for functionality and safety before final approval. Onsite at client site: The work location for this role is onsite with our clients and partners to enable delivery and cultivate our client relationships.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor’s degree in architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management OR additional five (5) years of active construction related experience
  • Minimum of ten (10) years full time related paid professional experience
  • A valid driver's license and compliance with our vehicle policy is required and you must be willing to travel to various Southern California project areas as needed

Nice To Haves

  • EIT, PMP, CCM or related certificates
  • Familiarity with Caltrans Standard Specifications Standard Plans and Caltrans Test Methods (CTM)
  • Ability to utilize computer technology to access data, maintain records, generate reports etc.
