About The Position

Perform installation, maintenance and repair of heating, refrigeration and air conditioning systems in commercial and residential settings. Diagnose system faults, perform corrective work, and ensure systems operate safely and efficiently.

Requirements

Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program or post-secondary program in heating, refrigeration, air conditioning or a related trade
Demonstrated experience installing, servicing and repairing HVAC and refrigeration systems
Knowledge of electrical controls, refrigeration cycles, and system diagnostics
Familiarity with safe refrigerant handling practices and relevant environmental regulations
Physical ability to lift equipment, work in confined spaces, at heights and in varied weather conditions
Ability to travel to job sites and communicate professionally with clients and team members

Responsibilities

Install, assemble, and connect HVAC and refrigeration units, ductwork, piping and controls according to specifications and codes
Inspect, test, diagnose and repair components such as compressors, motors, fans, valves, thermostats and control systems
Perform preventive maintenance and seasonal tune-ups to optimize system performance and energy efficiency
Recover, reclaim and handle refrigerants in compliance with regulatory and environmental procedures
Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams and equipment manuals to plan and execute work
Complete work orders, maintenance logs and service reports and communicate findings and recommendations to clients
