About The Position
Sunbelt Rentals is hiring a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic to support our growing Power & HVAC division in Winnipeg. In this role, you’ll diagnose, maintain, and repair industrial chillers, large tonnage heaters, commercial/industrial air handling units, temporary climate-control systems, and related equipment—working independently in the field to keep our customers running.
Requirements
- HVAC Technician experience with industrial or commercial systems
- Experience with refrigeration cycles, compressors, VFDs, controls, and high-tonnage equipment
- Trade certification (Journeyperson HVAC/Refrigeration or equivalent) required
- Strong diagnostic skills in electrical, mechanical, and refrigerant-based systems
- Ability to prioritize and adapt in a fast-paced field environment
- Valid driver’s license and personal hand tools
Nice To Haves
- Experience with diesel-driven HVAC equipment, power generation, or pumps is an asset.
Responsibilities
- Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs on: Industrial chillers (air-cooled & water-cooled), Large-scale heaters, boilers & hydronic systems, Air handling units and ventilation equipment, Temporary and emergency HVAC systems
- Troubleshoot complex electrical, mechanical, and refrigerant issues
- Complete preventive maintenance to maximize uptime and safety
- Work independently as a field technician across multiple customer sites
- Ensure all work meets safety, environmental, and regulatory standards
