About The Position

The Second Shift Heat Treat Operator will operate one or more furnaces to heat treat metal tools and meet established rates of production. This role involves working from 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

Requirements

One to three months of related experience or on-the-job training.
Ability to walk and stand at equipment for 8 hours or more per day.
Ability to use both hands to finger, handle, feel and reach with hands and arms.
Ability to frequently lift up to 10 pounds; occasionally lift 50 pounds and occasionally move up to 100 pounds.
Close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus on work.
Ability to read and comprehend simple written and verbal instructions and procedure manuals.
Ability to perform mathematical skills such as: addition, subtractions, multiplication, and division of all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; and ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Responsibilities

Operate salt furnace, including loading hammers on racks/baskets, monitoring automatic transfers through salt bath, oil quench, and rinse tank.
Remove tools from racks at the draw furnace conveyor station and place them onto the conveyor.
Monitor furnace controls (e.g., salt temp, oil temp) and cycle times to ensure quality.
Monitor the exit of the draw furnace for proper unloading.
Load face of hammer by hand into the furnace for face hardening.
Place tools onto the draw furnace conveyor for face hardening.
Monitor all temperatures to ensure overall quality for face hardening.
Degrease or remove scale from parts and clean salt pot and draw ovens as required.
Load and unload tools into carts and transport them to the appropriate staging area.
Complete the appropriate routing sheet and input data entry information in a timely manner.
