About The Position

PTC is a leading manufacturer and marketer of welded and cold-drawn mechanical steel tubing and tubular shapes, plated bar and tubing, and fabricated parts and precision components. This role involves supervising a team of three employees to operate AF and TF Furnace, quench barrel and straightener from a pulpit control station. The operator monitors and adjusts furnaces and related equipment to ensure products meet specifications, operates heating, cooling, and transport equipment safely and efficiently, and performs inspections of equipment and products. Accurate data recording and reporting, utilization of computer systems for process tracking, and maintaining an orderly, safe working environment are also key aspects of this position. The incumbent is expected to understand the shared responsibility for product quality within the PTC Quality Management System.

Requirements

  • High School or equivalent
  • 2+ years heat treating steel products preferable tubular goods
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must be computer literate and able to work with programs such as Word, Excel, etc., and be able to learn and use HP programs such as e-mail, ERP system, etc.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Good communication skills
  • Must be able to safely lift and load 50lbs.
  • Candidates must be able to tolerate any climate

Responsibilities

  • Monitors and adjusts furnaces and related equipment to ensure products are treated to meet customer and internal specifications.
  • Operates heating, cooling, and transport equipment in a safe and efficient manner within manufacturer guidelines.
  • Performs various inspection tasks of equipment and products to promote sustained quality and stability of the entire heat treating line.
  • Accurately and timely records/reports data to department leaders.
  • Utilizes computer systems and various software to proficiently track the entire process and adjust parameters.
  • Maintain an orderly, safe working environment.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
