About The Position

ATI is seeking a Heat Treat Operator for its Monroe, North Carolina facility. The operator works independently to heat treat metals to customer specifications, processing material in a furnace to harden it and prepare it for subsequent stages. The role requires attention to detail and the ability to work independently. The operator retrieves and prepares orders, heats and monitors material in furnaces, completes the specified cooling process, and stages or moves finished material to the next operation. The role also includes cutting heat-treated samples, maintaining accurate logs and records, and following prescribed safety rules and regulations. Nice To Haves

High School Diploma or GED.
One year of manufacturing or furnace experience.
Crane or IME lift experience.

Responsibilities

Retrieve orders using IME and an overhead crane.
Read and interpret mill orders and other written or verbal instructions.
Prepare orders by spraying metals with a dye developer as required.
Preheat the furnace to specified temperatures.
Load up to two furnaces with material and monitor the material and temperature during processing.
Remove treated material from the furnace and use the specified cooling method, such as air, water, or a fan, to complete the order.
Cut heat-treated samples using an abrasive saw.
Stage finished material in the designated area after cooling is complete.
Move materials from heat treat to the next operation and maintain smooth material flow.
Maintain accurate logs and records.
Follow and implement prescribed safety rules and regulations.
