About The Position

This position provides supervision to the Healthy Families America program team, known as Family Resource Specialists. The role involves supervising and ensuring accountability of team members while fostering their professional growth and development. Additionally, the supervisor may provide direct program services to participants when appropriate and necessary, as directed by the Healthy Families America Program Coordinator and/or the Children and Family Center Director.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, or fields related to working with children and families required.
  • Three - Five years of direct experience working with individuals and families required.
  • Experience in home visiting with a strong background in early childhood prevention services.
  • Experience working with team members from diverse backgrounds and supporting them in intense working environments.
  • Embrace and champion NCHS’s culture of belonging through proactive involvement in anti-racism and anti-oppressive practices.
  • Knowledge of infant and child development and parent-child attachment.
  • A solid understanding of or experience in supervising diverse team members with humility, as well as providing support to team members in stressful work environments.

  • Knowledge of parent-infant health and dynamics of child abuse and neglect.
  • Experience supporting culturally diverse communities and families.

  • Ability to work autonomously and make appropriate decisions with consultation from their supervisor, Coordinator, Director or other NCHS team members as outlined in NCHS’s policies/procedures or processes if applicable, in crisis situations.
  • Ability to analyze and make recommendations regarding individual cases and individual team member issues, and (frequently simultaneously) to analyze and apply larger, systemic issues.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Successfully complete a defensive driving course sanctioned by the National Safety Council.
  • Ability to interact with families and team members with humility, sensitivity, and responsiveness to diverse cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Ability to be accepting of individual differences.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret forms, documents, evaluations, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to respond to inquiries and possible concerns from participants and other providers.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions.
  • Ability to allow for adjustments from week to week in the number of hours worked by specialists.
  • The ability to frequently communicate with NCHS team members and community partnerships.

  • Able to move equipment weighing up to 35 pounds.
  • Occasionally ascends/descends stairs in the building and home structures.
  • Able to operate a computer and other office equipment.
  • Able to remain in a stationary position and move about different work environments.
  • This position requires access to reliable and safe transportation. A copy of insurance and registration will be required upon hiring.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in a Human Services field preferred.
  • Two-Three years of Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Willing to engage in building reflective capacity and experience with reflective practice preferred.
  • Infant mental health endorsement through Nebraska Association for Infant Mental Health preferred.
  • Bilingual (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Supervise Healthy Families America program team members, including assigning caseloads.
  • Provide support at events hosted by HFA or NCHS.
  • Responsible for hiring, orientation, and performance management according to NCHS’s policies and procedures.
  • Provide ongoing training and support through regular reflective supervision, including case review, performance evaluations, and service plan reviews.
  • Provide program management services, including participation in quality management, community outreach, and meeting program goals.
  • Analyze program data and evaluations to ensure outcomes are being met.
  • Ensure adherence to NCHS, Nebraska, and model confidentiality requirements.
  • Ensure fidelity to the Healthy Families America model and evidence-based curriculums.
  • Assist team members in connecting families with community resources for additional support.
  • Promote the use of diverse approaches based on individual service planning.
  • Coach team members to create and implement individual service plans and goal plans using the Mobility Mentoring Model.
  • Collaborate with other NCHS programs, community agencies, school personnel, and healthcare providers.
  • Attend community meetings to collaborate with agencies, networks, and partners.
  • Facilitate or assist in facilitating NCHS HFA CQI team meetings.
  • Facilitate or assist in facilitating HFA Advisory Committee meetings.
  • Maintain a positive and cooperative relationship with internal and external professionals.
  • Participate in agency committees as assigned.
  • Positive representation of NCHS in all community settings.
  • Interpret and abide by NCHS policies and procedures.
  • Embrace and champion NCHS’s mission, values, and culture.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor and/or director.
