Requirements

  • Successful completion of OSHA 30-Hour Construction Industry Outreach Training required (may obtain within first year of employment)
  • 8+ years of commercial construction field experience, including direct supervisory experience
  • Proven experience working on $100 million+ healthcare construction projects
  • Proficient with reading plans and specs
  • Ability to build and manage high performing teams

  • B.S. in construction management/science, engineering, or relevant discipline preferred, or equivalent combination of education (High School diploma) and experience

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and lead day-to-day field construction activities on assigned job sites.
  • Ensure overall safety at a job site, including the implementation of safety plans and procedures.
  • Review record documents, submittals, shop drawings, and schedules to determine project scope, materials, manpower, and equipment needs.
  • Plan the physical layout of the job site, initiate startup activities, and designate areas for cranes, hoists, material storage, and parking.
  • Direct field engineers in site survey and layout, ensuring dimensional control lines and elevations are correct.
  • Plan daily and weekly activities for each craft, providing detailed technical instructions and schedule forecasts.
  • Establish procedures for ordering self-performed building materials, supplies, and small tools.
  • Inspect all field construction work in progress, ensuring high-quality workmanship and promptly correcting deficiencies.
  • Provide technical guidance and assistance in resolving construction problems and investigate alternative work methods and materials.
  • Assist the project manager in evaluating schedule and cost impacts.
  • Assist the project manager in developing manpower and equipment projection charts, monitoring labor costs, and investigating delays.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, and codes.
  • Manage scheduling of all governmental inspections necessary for a certificate of occupancy.
  • Assume overall responsibility for the health and safety of employees.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with owners, architects, consulting firms, and other parties.
  • Foster and promote the training and development of subordinates.
  • Assume a leadership role in the career planning and development of project staff.
  • Perform tasks associated with project completion, including close-out punch lists, demobilization, and as-built documents.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate daily reports of all field construction activities.
  • Administer the company's Safety & Health Manual.
