About The Position

The Healthcare Project Manager is responsible for comprehensive delivery of healthcare-focused architectural, engineering, and facility projects from programming and schematic design through design development, construction documents, construction administration, and occupancy. The role provides client leadership and service while managing scope, schedule, budget, staffing, deliverables, risks, and expectations. It oversees multiple projects, leads multidisciplinary teams, coordinates design subconsultants, and prepares administrative documents. The role ensures project solutions meet healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, operational needs, and quality requirements. It requires understanding healthcare operations and clinical environments, and balancing patient care, operational continuity, regulatory requirements, and project goals throughout the project lifecycle. Candidates with advanced leadership capabilities may be considered for Senior Healthcare Project Manager; that level typically includes ten or more years of relevant experience, but consideration is primarily based on demonstrated competencies and performance. The position is hybrid or remote, with a professional office setting as the primary work environment and periodic travel to project sites. Site visits may involve active construction or renovation conditions, atypical hours, and use of personal protective equipment. The position is exempt and listed at 40–40+ hours per week. Overnight travel may be up to 20%.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, healthcare administration, business administration, or a related field.
At least 6 years of healthcare project management experience.
Demonstrated understanding of healthcare planning principles and clinical workflow design.
Knowledge of FGI Guidelines, NFPA 99, NFPA 101, CMS Conditions of Participation, Joint Commission requirements, ADA, and state health department regulations.
Experience leading projects in occupied healthcare environments, such as acute care hospitals, surgical suites, imaging departments, emergency departments, behavioral health facilities, ambulatory care facilities, cancer centers, or medical office buildings.
Experience with Infection Control Risk Assessments (ICRA) and phased renovations in occupied healthcare settings.
Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the Company’s insurance policy.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Real ID, passport, or other required travel documents for air travel.
Required technical skills: Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams), Bluebeam Revu and Bluebeam Studio, and SharePoint document management and file organization systems.

Nice To Haves

A master’s degree in a related field.
Registered Architect (RA) or Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
One or more certifications: Certified Construction Manager (CCM), Project Management Professional (PMP), American College of Healthcare Architects (ACHA), Certified Healthcare Constructor (CHC), Certified Healthcare Interior Designer (CHID), USACE Construction Quality Management for Contractors (CQM-C), or Construction Specifications Institute Construction Documents Technologist (CSI-CDT). Training and certification support may be provided.
Experience in housing, tribal, or federal project markets.
Experience with Revit, Procore or similar construction management software, Deltek Vision, Vantagepoint or CostPoint, Microsoft Project, Adobe InDesign, SpecsIntact, SpecLink, MasterSpec, or Smartsheet.
For Senior Healthcare Project Manager consideration, typically ten or more years of relevant experience, though consideration is primarily competency- and performance-based.

Responsibilities

Build and maintain long-term relationships with healthcare executives, facilities leaders, clinical staff, and operational stakeholders.
Lead executive-level project presentations and strategic decision-making sessions; guide clients through project phases and identify additional service opportunities.
Participate in contract negotiations, scope development, and fee proposals.
Manage healthcare architecture and facility projects from planning and programming through design, construction, and occupancy.
Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, staffing plans, work plans, and deliverables; identify and manage project risks.
Maintain organized project documentation, drawings, and communication records; solve problems and escalate issues to the VP of Operations as appropriate.
Monitor project financial performance, including budgets, labor utilization, earned revenue, forecasts, and profitability.
Facilitate user group meetings, programming charrettes, clinical workflow planning, and medical equipment coordination.
Coordinate project phasing plans and Infection Control Risk Assessments (ICRA).
Oversee working drawings, specifications, schedules, cost estimates, and coordinated construction documents, including design subconsultants.
Ensure compliance with applicable codes and healthcare regulations, including FGI, ADA, CMS, Joint Commission, and federal, state, and local requirements.
Participate in construction administration, including site observations, issue resolution, and coordination of contract modifications or additional services with Principals-in-Charge.
Mentor junior staff and intern architects and foster collaboration among clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams.
Perform other duties as assigned.
For senior-level consideration: lead highly complex, phased, occupied healthcare projects and large multidisciplinary teams; advise executive healthcare leadership; manage significant budgets, staffing, and contractual matters; lead pursuits, interviews, and strategic business development; mentor Project Managers and emerging professionals; contribute to studio operations, strategic planning, and continuous improvement; and support market growth and repeat business.
