About The Position

The Houston office is seeking a healthcare-experienced principal to join its growing team. This is a mechanical seller/doer role based in Houston, partnering with the leadership team to deliver and grow the Houston healthcare business. The principal will lead and mentor multidisciplinary teams, deliver forward-thinking and sustainable healthcare designs, help solve clients’ complex issues, and contribute as a key member of the Texas leadership team.

The role involves leading healthcare project design and execution, building client relationships and business opportunities, overseeing project delivery and financial performance, mentoring engineering teams, communicating technical concepts to varied audiences, promoting research-informed sustainable design, and serving as Lead Engineer or Engineer of Record on key projects.

Requirements

• At least 15 years of professional experience.
• Experience designing hospitals from concept design through construction administration and commissioning of systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
• Experience leading project teams as a project manager or project director on medium- to large-scale projects.
• Proven leadership in mechanical design, with a client-focused and collaborative approach.
• Excellent communication, planning, and organizational skills.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary teams in the design and execution of healthcare projects, aligning work with client goals, regulatory standards, and contractual obligations.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with healthcare clients to drive repeat business and identify new opportunities.
• Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources to support on-time, on-budget delivery and high-quality outcomes.
• Manage financial performance, implement risk controls, and ensure compliance with technical and regulatory requirements.
• Supervise and mentor engineering teams, supporting professional growth through development opportunities and performance evaluations.
• Present complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences in engaging and innovative ways.
• Promote sustainable design practices that support improved health outcomes and are grounded in current scientific research.
• Serve as Lead Engineer or Engineer of Record on key projects, ensuring technical excellence and accountability.
• Partner with the leadership team to deliver and grow the Houston healthcare business.
