About The Position

The Healthcare Billing Coordinator will primarily maintain and coordinate accounts receivable for Complete Living Care, Transitional Care, and Outpatient Therapy in the Wellness Center. Responsibilities include monthly resident billing, Medicare billing, other insurance billing, and data entry. This role also involves maintaining current resident files, posting insurance payments daily, performing benefits checks for potential admissions, attending family meetings to explain billing processes, reviewing delinquent accounts, coordinating Medicare/Medicaid/other insurance receivables, and maintaining contact with residents' families and VMRC Social Services regarding financial and Medicaid eligibility status. The position requires responding to the CFO and Controller with accurate and timely work, and participating in special projects and reports. Additionally, the role emphasizes planning, organization, critical thinking, decision-making, and strong communication skills, including active listening and conflict resolution. General duties include complying with VMRC policies, engaging residents compassionately, maintaining confidentiality, fostering positive working relationships, demonstrating good attendance, using correct body mechanics, participating in staff development, demonstrating computer proficiency, attending required meetings, and following emergency procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent plus business school coursework
  • 1-2 years of experience in bookkeeping and computer/data entry functions
  • Highly organized, detail-focused, and maintain a high level of accuracy
  • Ability to effectively communicate and interact, in a customer service focus, with staff, residents, family members, and vendors
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Office suite programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to function in a team environment
  • Strong work ethic and results-focused
  • Ability to work with limited supervision

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and coordinate accounts receivable for Complete Living Care, Transitional Care, and Outpatient Therapy.
  • Perform monthly resident billing, Medicare billing, and other insurance billing.
  • Enter data related to billing and accounts receivable.
  • Maintain current resident files, including census, responsible party, insurance, and billing information.
  • Post insurance payments daily.
  • Perform benefits checks for potential admissions.
  • Attend family meetings for new admissions to explain insurance billing and the collection process.
  • Review delinquent accounts and contact responsible parties for payment arrangements.
  • Coordinate Medicare, Medicaid, and other insurance receivables to minimize bad debt and maintain efficient collections.
  • Maintain contact with residents’ family and VMRC Social Services to ensure knowledge of residents’ financial and Medicaid eligibility status.
  • Respond to the CFO and Controller with accurate and timely work to facilitate financial reporting.
  • Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports.
