About The Position

The Health Unit Coordinator coordinates patient records, patient information supplies, equipment, and communication. This position requires population-specific competencies and adherence to National Patient Safety Goals appropriate to the level of patient contact. The role is PRN/Nights at INTEGRIS Health Baptist Neonatal ICU in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Requirements

Knowledge of medical terminology.
Typing speed of 20 words per minute.
Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.

Nice To Haves

Six months of previous unit clerk experience or successful completion of a structured unit clerk curriculum is preferred.
Experience in computerized data entry and/or keyboarding is preferred.
Experience in a customer service role is preferred.

Responsibilities

Answer telephone and intercom promptly and relay information to appropriate personnel.
Provide information and customer service to patients, family members, and visitors.
Assemble and maintain patient medical records from admission through discharge according to prescribed procedures.
Continuously monitor electronic patient medical records, communicate physician orders and test results, and scan patient information into the computer system as needed.
Maintain inventory of patient chargeable and non-chargeable supplies for the unit.
Coordinate patient care activities, procedures, and transportation with appropriate personnel.
Maintain, operate, troubleshoot, and perform quality assurance checks on office and computer equipment.
May retrieve and transport medications.
