About The Position

The Health Unit Coordinator is a key person within the nursing unit, who provides overall administrative and technical assistance and support in the operation of the assigned nursing unit; and collaborates with other staff and leaders in the development, oversight, and operation of the unit. This position is the hub of all communication to and from the nursing unit; and greatly impacts the "tone" of the unit/shift. Providence caregivers are not simply valued – they’re invaluable. Requirements

  • Medical terminology course or equivalent education/experience
  • 1 year of experience performing secretarial duties in healthcare, or equivalent training in a recognized healthcare program.
  • Experience with a variety of software applications.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year post high school education.
  • Satisfactory completion of health unit coordinator coursework or equivalent education/experience
  • National Certification Health Unit Coordinator upon hire
  • Experience as a preceptor/role model.
