About The Position

The Health Unit Coordinator coordinates patient records, patient information, supplies, equipment, and communication at INTEGRIS Health Baptist Trauma Med/Surg in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The position requires population-specific competencies and adherence to applicable National Patient Safety Goals based on the level of patient contact. The schedule is 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., three times a week, and the role is regular part-time.

Requirements

Knowledge of medical terminology.
Typing speed of 20 words per minute.
Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
The posting lists six months of previous unit clerk experience or successful completion of a structured unit clerk curriculum as preferred.

Nice To Haves

Six months of previous unit clerk experience or successful completion of a structured unit clerk curriculum.
Experience in computerized data entry and/or keyboarding.
Experience in a customer service role.

Responsibilities

Answer telephone and intercom promptly, relaying information to appropriate personnel.
Provide information and customer service to patients, family members, and visitors.
Assemble and maintain patient medical records from admission to discharge according to prescribed procedures.
Continuously monitor electronic patient medical records, communicate physician orders and test results, and scan patient information into the computer system as needed.
Maintain inventory of patient-chargeable and non-chargeable supplies for the unit.
Coordinate patient care activities, procedures, and transportation with appropriate personnel.
Maintain, operate, troubleshoot, and perform quality assurance checks on office and computer equipment.
May retrieve and transport medications.
