Medina Hospital’s 2 South is a General Medicine Unit known for its compassionate, comprehensive, and patient-first patient care, highly skilled nursing team and engaging work environment. Featuring four private rooms and 14 semi-private rooms, caregivers in this unit are responsible for managing pre-surgical patients and patients needing antibiotic treatment and wound care, advanced dressing changes and bedside thoracentesis/paracentesis. As a Health Unit Coordinator on the team, you will be responsible for providing a high level of customer service to patients, families, visitors and other caregivers to promote and support positive patient experiences. Your work allows the nurse to focus solely on the patient by alleviating them from having to complete administrative/clerical tasks. This role provides the opportunity to further your education, a pathway to pursue magnet and a steppingstone to climbing the clinical ladder.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One year of experience in a customer service-related role
  • Experience with typing, computer training or equivalent coursework

  • Microsoft Office experience

Responsibilities

  • Conduct an in-person greeting, welcome and orientation to the unit for newly admitted and transferred patients.
  • Respond to patient call lights and make rounds.
  • Communicate and facilitate communication with patients, families, other departments and health care team members regarding patient care.
  • Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges.
  • Assist patients and families with wayfinding and direct them to available resources.
  • Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care.
  • Assist with unit clerical functions and in trouble-shooting equipment failures, such as call system, portable phones, WOWs and other unit devices.
