About The Position

The Health Unit Coordinator works on the J52 24-bed unit at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus, supporting patients with a broad range of medical and surgical conditions, including cardiac procedures and recovery from thoracic surgery. The role performs administrative and clerical tasks that support department organization and patient flow, while providing customer service to patients, families, and visitors. Responsibilities also include welcoming and orienting newly admitted or transferred patients, responding to call lights, assisting with admissions, transfers, and discharges, and maintaining patient records and information. The position works weekends (Saturday and Sunday) from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., plus one flexible day during the week, with day or night shift availability.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
One year of experience in a customer service-related role.
Experience with typing, computer training, or equivalent coursework.

Nice To Haves

College degree.
Experience with Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

Greet, welcome, and orient newly admitted and transferred patients to the unit in person.
Respond to patient call lights and make rounds.
Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
Help patients and families with wayfinding and direct them to available resources.
Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care.
Perform computer tasks, including updating schedules and managing patient information.
Assist with unit clerical functions and troubleshoot equipment failures involving the call system, portable phones, WOWs, and other unit devices.
