About The Position

The Health Unit Coordinator provides clerical and system coordination and support for inpatient care areas. The role coordinates nursing unit communication and activities related to patient care with physicians, nursing staff, other departments, professional staff, patients, and families. The coordinator manages the inpatient unit desk area, facilitates the use of technology, and coordinates downtime procedures.

Requirements

Medical terminology knowledge is required, or the employee must satisfactorily complete a course within the first 6 months of employment.
Ability to adapt to changes in a fast-paced work environment.
Exemplary telephone etiquette and customer service skills.
Analytical skills to gather and interpret routine data, maintain semi-complex records, and organize work.
Ability to communicate clearly.

Nice To Haves

A minimum of 6 months of experience as a Health Unit Coordinator.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Completion of a formal Health Unit Coordinator training program.
Working knowledge of Windows office systems and office equipment.
HUC Certification.
