Acute Care - Health Unit Coordinator/HUC - Part Time - 7:00 PM-7:00 AM
About The Position
Wilson Health is seeking a direct hire Medical Surgical-Telemetry Health Unit Coordinator/Patient Care Technician for our Acute Care Department in Sidney, Ohio. This is a part-time position working 24 hours a week on the 7pm-7am shift. The Acute Care Department is a 23-bed medical-surgical-telemetry unit where patients receive active but short-term treatment for severe injuries, illnesses, urgent medical conditions, or recovery from surgery. The Health Unit Coordinator (HUC)/Patient Care Technician (PCT) is responsible for preparing and compiling records, entering patient information and physician orders into the computer system, and providing essential patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse. This role involves assisting with unit coordination, ensuring necessary supplies are available, and maintaining open communication with patients, their significant others, and team members. The patient population includes young-middle aged adults and geriatrics. The HUC/PCT will carry out assigned treatments and procedures based on ethical concepts, respect for life, dignity, human worth, and individuality.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Successfully completed an approved Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program; or three to six months related hospital experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English with strong interpersonal skills.
- Current certification in Basic Life Support
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the computer entry of patient information/registration and physician orders to ensure continuity of care.
- Assist with the coordination of activities of the unit and ensures the necessary supplies are available to provide patient care.
- Assure opens and timely communication with the patient, their significant others and team members to ensure the occurrence of therapeutic interventions.
- Under direction of the RN/LPN, assists in meeting the physical and emotional needs of the patient on his/her assigned unit.
- Under the direction of the RN/LPN, carry out assigned treatments and procedures.
- Provide care based on ethical concepts, respect for life, dignity, human worth and the individuality of human beings.
