About The Position

Under the direction of the Assistant Director, Pharmacy Informatics, this position will develop, test, train, maintain, and support clinical systems used in medication management and related pharmacy automation with primary focus on accuracy of medication information. The position is a member of the Pharmacy Informatics Team, which serves the pharmacy enterprise. The pharmacy enterprise consists of the following: Inpatient and outpatient areas of University Hospital, Ross Heart Hospital, University Hospital East, James Cancer Hospital, Harding Hospital, Brain and Spine Hospital, and Dodd Davis Rehabilitation Hospital. OSU Physician Group and The Ohio State Outpatient Pharmacy are also considered part of the pharmacy enterprise. The pharmacy enterprise has a close affiliation with all of the health sciences colleges, most importantly the College of Pharmacy. The pharmacy enterprise contributes to the academic and research mission of the university by training residents, publishing peer-reviewed papers, and precepting pharmacy student hours of experiential education. The Willow Ambulatory (WAM) Lead Clinical Applications Analyst serves as a non-supervisory technical and operational leader within Pharmacy Informatics, providing advanced expertise and leadership for the development, implementation, integration, optimization, maintenance, and support of clinical applications and pharmacy automation used across the pharmacy enterprise. The position leads complex, high-impact, and cross-functional initiatives; establishes and promotes technical, build, testing, validation, and documentation standards; evaluates workflows and system performance; and proactively identifies risks, dependencies, technical debt, and improvement opportunities that may affect medication safety, regulatory compliance, operational readiness, or organizational priorities. The WAM Lead Clinical Applications Analyst strengthens overall team effectiveness by coordinating technical work across supported domains, providing visibility into workload and project readiness, facilitating knowledge transfer, mentoring analysts, supporting onboarding and cross-training, and preparing recommendations that enable Pharmacy Informatics leadership to make informed decisions. The position serves as a trusted liaison among Pharmacy Informatics, pharmacy operations, information technology teams, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure that technology solutions align with clinical, operational, and strategic needs. This role complements formal management functions by providing technical and operational leadership without direct responsibility for employee payroll, corrective action, or formal performance management. Through proactive coordination, collaborative problem-solving, and promotion of consistent standards and a positive team culture, the WAM Lead Clinical Applications Analyst helps ensure that Pharmacy Informatics services remain safe, reliable, efficient, scalable, and aligned with Department of Pharmacy and Medical Center goals. The Lead Clinical Applications Analyst will provide medication and related system expertise to the development, analysis, and implementation of the most complex enterprise-wide clinical system projects, promoting cooperation and collaboration with other team members to achieve Department of Pharmacy and OSUWMC enterprise goals. The position will develop, maintain, and support clinical application systems and automation that pertain to medication management. The Lead Clinical Applications Analyst must be knowledgeable in various aspects of information systems terminology, information system processing, and desktop solutions. In addition, the Lead Clinical Applications Analyst will serve as an expert on pharmacy operations, clinical practice, and/or systems, integration and automation. OSUWMC pharmacy operations, policies, and procedures, and stay current with developments and issues in the practice of pharmacy. The Lead Clinical Applications Analyst will develop and promote team standards and cultivate a positive team culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 6 years of relevant experience required.
  • Knowledgeable in various aspects of information systems terminology, information system processing, and desktop solutions.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree in relevant field may be desirable.
  • 8-12 years of relevant experience preferred.
