This position is within the Department of Health, serving as a Health Services Representative. The role involves direct client care, including obtaining medical history, taking vital signs, performing screenings, collecting samples, and assisting providers. The position requires accurate documentation, processing of lab samples, and maintaining stock supplies. Requirements

  • Ability to perform venipuncture procedures
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and experience with maintaining client confidentiality
  • Must be willing to physically come in the office to perform the duties & responsibilities of the positions
  • Must have current authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship
  • Must have experience with Microsoft office programs
  • Must be able to take patient vital signs (BP, temp, O2sat, height, weight,etc…)
  • All Florida Department of Health positions require the incumbent to be able to learn and communicate effectively, orally and in writing, in English.

Responsibilities

  • Obtaining medical history from client and/or family and client records; measuring height and weight, taking blood pressures manually and electronically, taking temperatures, pulse and respirations; performing screenings/counseling for HIV and other areas; testing visual and auditory acuity using eye charts and audiometer.
  • Collection of urine samples, observation of clients taking prescribed oral medications, providing clear and accurate client information and documentation.
  • Accurate timely processing of urine samples, labs including labeling for submission for analysis and submission for analysis.
  • Assist providers in examining and treating clients and provide the full range of client care to include positioning clients for examination; assist with specimen collection, proper handling of specimens, i.e. labeling, transporting to the clinic lab, packaging for transport; taking of providers orders and providing client information as appropriate and within the scope of practice.
  • Performs venipuncture for blood tests, collection and processing of urine specimens for a variety of standard laboratory testing and analysis.
  • Input client data into HMS Lab module and operate routine laboratory equipment.
  • Assists providers with client follow-up including, but not limited to, documenting in clients' record, obtaining and responding to telephone messages, making calls to clients, and obtaining laboratory and test results.
  • Assist nursing staff with the cleaning and stocking of exam rooms.
  • Assists nursing staff with instrument and equipment cleaning, disinfection and autoclaving of instruments as necessary.
  • Maintaining stock supply and requesting supply purchases as needed.
  • Performs TB DOT, collects samples as indicated.
  • Provides HIV/STD counseling and testing within the county health department clinic or community.
  • Completes required records and reports including laboratory request forms, travel reimbursement forms, HMC service codes in accordance with current agency and program specific policies and/or procedures.
  • May be asked to assist providers in examining clients and provide the full range of client care to include: positioning client for examination.
