The Health & Safety Manager leads all occupational health programs, including workers' compensation, exposure control, hearing conservation, respiratory protection, biomedical waste, drug/alcohol-free workplace, first aid, and pandemic planning. This role oversees injury/illness case management with third-party partners to reduce incident frequency, severity, and cost. The manager develops and applies occupational health and safety policies, standards, and regulatory requirements, collaborating with the Safety Department to create or improve procedures that eliminate or control workplace hazards. Responsibilities include evaluating workplace risks, ensuring compliance through hazard analyses, job/process reviews, and safety inspections, and training employees, supervisors, and leaders on occupational health and safety practices. The role involves conducting site visits and workplace inspections, including behavioral and physical audits, to identify hazards, document findings, and drive corrective actions using tools like near-miss reporting and trend analysis. Support for regulatory and compliance requirements includes maintaining accurate records, administering safety management system tools, and coordinating training refreshers, inspections, industrial hygiene sampling, and medical surveillance activities. The manager also handles safety-related documentation and communication by coordinating claims and return-to-work processes with HR, keeping SDS and permits updated, and monitoring regulatory changes to inform leadership. Other duties as assigned.
