About The Position
Metallus is seeking a Health & Safety Intern to join their team for the Summer 2027 program. This internship is designed to provide hands-on experience in a team environment, allowing interns to grow their skills, develop as leaders, and network with company managers and leaders. The program also includes career readiness development through workshops on topics such as resume building and interview preparation. Metallus is an industry leader in manufacturing steel for various markets, with a legacy spanning over a century.
Requirements
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
- Must have completed 30 or more credit hours by the end of the spring 2027 semester
- Must be a full-time student attending an accredited two-year or four-year college/university
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Nice To Haves
- Preferred majors: Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health & Safety, or related
Responsibilities
- Assist with safety audits, inspections, and field observations
- Support incident, near-miss, and hazard reporting reviews
- Help maintain safety documentation, training records, and data tracking
- Participate in safety training sessions, toolbox talks, and meetings
- Assist with development of safety communications and materials
- Emergency Action Plan improvements/reviews/development
- Job Safety Analysis review and validation
- Plant Safety Lead support
- Support special safety projects as assigned
