This is an internship position with a focus on both Process Engineering and Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) functions within a manufacturing environment. The intern will gain hands-on experience and contribute to meaningful projects.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related discipline
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written communication skills with an interest in technical documentation
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

Nice To Haves

  • Experience reading or working with engineering drawings and P&IDs is an asset
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or 5S principles is an asset
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Responsibilities

  • Working alongside Process Engineers and HSE professionals to support plant safety and operational improvement initiatives
  • Assisting with the development and maintenance of Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and Safe Work Instructions (SWIs)
  • Creating JHAs and SWIs for new and existing equipment
  • Supporting the plant's 5S continuous improvement program through audits, documentation, and improvement initiatives
  • Identifying opportunities to improve workplace organization, efficiency, and safety
  • Assisting with equipment labeling projects, including safety, maintenance, and process identification systems
  • Supporting P&ID reviews and updates to ensure plant documentation remains accurate and current
  • Conducting plant walkthroughs to identify safety, process, and operational improvement opportunities
  • Collecting, organizing, and analyzing data to support engineering and safety projects
  • Collaborating with operations, maintenance, engineering, and HSE teams on various special projects
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the facility
