About The Position

This role is responsible for assisting in the ongoing development and implementation of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) processes to ensure effective risk control and compliance with applicable local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and standards. The intern will support the implementation and maintenance of HSE procedures to protect employees and prevent incidents. Key activities include conducting job safety analyses, machine guarding assessments, and other evaluations to recommend corrective actions for risk mitigation. The role also involves conducting mandated training (e.g., HazCom, Lockout/Tagout, PPE, Ergonomics, Machine Guarding, Electrical Safety, Emergency Evacuation), performing incident investigations, collecting data, and preparing various HSE reports (e.g., air emissions, hazardous waste, tier II, accident/incident reports). Additionally, the intern will conduct industrial hygiene assessments, provide site-level HSE training, perform ergonomic assessments, and ensure subcontractors adhere to the Contractor HSE program by verifying training and certifications. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Zero to three years of HSE experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Education and experience in HSE programs, with specific regard to Lockout/Tagout and Machine Guarding Programs.
  • Ability to partner effectively with the line organization to drive accountability for safety and zero incident mentality.
  • Team player with a strong commitment to the HSE profession.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships which foster integrity, trust, and respect.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited related degree program.
  • Prefer minimum of 1.5 years of school remaining.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with the MS Office suite of applications is a plus.

Responsibilities
