About The Position

Our site in Aurora, IL is seeking an Environmental, Health and Safety Co-Op to join our team for the Spring 2027 season. This assignment is intended to be 6 months in duration. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated EHS Co-Op to join our Environmental, Health & Safety team. This role will provide hands-on experience supporting key safety and compliance initiatives while contributing to our organization’s overall safety culture. The co-op will assist with ongoing projects, audits, and employee engagement activities tied to our defined EHS objectives.

Requirements

  • Strong interest in workplace safety, health, and environmental management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Environmental, Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Graduating in December 2027 or later.
  • Must be a currently enrolled student
  • Available to work 40 hours a week, M-F (8a-5p) beginning in January through June.
  • Must be familiar with the universities requirements to participate in a co-op program

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of EHS programs, focusing on: Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, Machine guarding initiatives, Ergonomic risk assessments and improvements, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety Management) systems
  • Assist in conducting audits, inspections, and gap analyses related to the above objectives.
  • Participate in EHS training development and employee engagement initiatives to promote a strong safety culture.
  • Collect, analyze, and present EHS data to support performance metrics and reporting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Provide general support to the EHS department as assigned.
