About The Position

This role is responsible for assisting and leading the cultural transformation regarding Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) to help the plant achieve zero accidents and incidents. The specialist will coordinate and oversee the implementation of all Health & Safety programs and processes, participate in investigations to facilitate closure of non-conformances, and provide HSE expertise for new projects and change management activities. The role also involves following up on non-conformances, developing systems for resolution based on root cause analysis, maintaining an up-to-date incident reporting system, investigating incidents, and driving the completion of corrective actions. Additionally, the specialist will develop technical guidance programs to identify and remove physical hazards.

Requirements

  • Experience in Environmental Health and Safety
  • Must have completed Environmental Health and Safety training in areas such as OSHA, EPA, DNREC
  • Experience in safety, and/or environmental technical standards
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work with individuals at all levels
  • Understanding and knowledge of regulatory reports and compliances including experience with ISO
  • Bachelor’s degree – Health, Safety, Environmental is preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in a Health Safety and Environment role, preferably in a manufacturing setting

Nice To Haves

  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) Certification is desirable however NOT mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an up-to-date incident reporting system, assist with investigating incidents in conjunction with the HSE Pillar team/safety committee and drive the completion of corrective actions to eliminate root causes/reoccurrence
  • Develop technical guidance programs to identify and remove physical hazards
