About The Position

Trans Mountain Corporation operates Canada’s only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. We deliver approximately 890,000 barrels of petroleum products each day through a dual pipeline system of more than 1,150 kilometres of pipeline in Alberta, British Columbia and Washington state. Trans Mountain also operates a state-of-the-art loading facility, Westridge Marine Terminal, with three berths providing tidewater access to global markets. Trans Mountain is seeking a collaborative, motivated, and values driven individual to join our dynamic team as a Health & Safety Coordinator. In this position, you will play a key role in supporting the organization’s Health and Safety programs and initiatives. This role supports Health & Safety, operational, and project teams through safety program development and maintenance, training design and delivery, KPI tracking and database management, contractor support, safety communications, and maintenance of safety procedures and practices.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Health, Safety and Environment (OHS or equivalent), Business, or related discipline.
  • 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in Health and Safety
  • Technical writing skills with the ability to understand verbal and written communications, including but not limited to email, OH&S legislation and industry standards.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft applications (including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) for the purpose of word processing, spreadsheets and information retrieval.
  • Experience with Co-Pilot and ability to write and present effective reports and correspondence.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds and levels across the organization.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to convey information clearly, respectfully, and professionally.
  • Proven organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Commitment to inclusive practices and a willingness to contribute positively to a collaborative and supportive workplace culture.

Nice To Haves

  • Designation such as NCSO, CRST, CRSP, CSP is an asset.
  • Operational and/or field safety experience in oil and gas industry is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain safety department processes and electronic filing systems and ensure ongoing improvement.
  • Support the development, review, and maintenance of safety standards, procedures, and safe work practices.
  • Maintain safety department websites and develop, and issue communications on safety-related topics, such as lesson learned, bulletins, safety alerts and newsletters.
  • Utilize your strong analytical and report writing skills to review leading and lagging indicator trends to develop safety management system improvements.
  • Maintain department proprietary and third-party databases to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Track reporting elements such as key performance indicators (KPI’s) and assist with trending analysis reports.
  • Provide key oversight of the safety department SharePoint documents.
  • Support corporate safety orientation training program for office and field staff.
  • Provide oversight of the safety data sheet hazardous chemical audits at all locations.
  • Perform periodic contractor inspections and assist in maintaining the annual PPE inspection program and support management of work-related injuries.
  • Support the work of the Health & Safety Representatives Committee, including special projects and initiatives.
  • Participate in emergency response exercises and events.
