About The Position

Blue Ocean Mariculture is seeking a Health & Safety Coordinator to develop, implement, and continuously improve the Company's health, safety, and risk management programs across all operations. This role reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and serves as a trusted partner to various departments including Farm Operations, Hatchery, Processing, and Human Resources. The position focuses on identifying risks early, removing barriers to safe work, and fostering a culture where safety supports operational excellence and employee wellbeing, rather than acting as a compliance "police force." Success is measured by regulatory compliance, incident prevention, trust earned across the organization, and the ability to help teams perform their work safely, efficiently, and confidently.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, Marine Operations, Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–5 years of progressive safety experience in a high-risk operating environment.
  • Experience supporting field operations rather than solely office environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience in offshore aquaculture, commercial diving, maritime operations, offshore energy
  • Commercial Divers Certification (ADCI, DCBC, IMCA)
  • First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor
  • Commercial Dive Safety experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership to develop and continuously improve the Company's health and safety culture, programs, and performance.
  • Partner with leaders and employees across the organization to identify risks, implement practical solutions, and integrate safety into daily operations.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies, procedures, management systems, training programs, and document control and records retention processes that support operational excellence and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead incident investigations, identify root causes, and drive corrective and preventive actions that strengthen organizational learning and reduce risk.
  • Maintain accurate safety records and documentation, ensuring compliance with regulatory, legal, and Company document retention requirements.
  • Monitor safety performance, analyze trends, and provide actionable recommendations to the CEO and Leadership Team.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement through coaching, communication, and collaboration.
  • Perform other duties consistent with the responsibilities of the role in support of the Company's evolving business needs.
