Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field
  • OHS certification or diploma from a recognized institution
  • 2 years of experience in a Health & Safety role within a food manufacturing environment, preferably in the dairy industry
  • Proven ability to interpret and apply Manitoba OHS legislation and regulatory standards
  • Experience conducting inspections, audits, and incident investigations
  • Strong communication, analytical, and report-writing skills

Nice To Haves

  • Intermediate First Aid certification (or higher) is an asset
  • Familiarity with HACCP, GMP, and integrated management systems preferred

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and maintain occupational health and safety programs that meet Manitoba OHS and COR standards.
  • Assist in aligning site safety programs with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Maintain documentation, records, and reports for audits and inspections.
  • Deliver engaging safety orientations and toolbox talks.
  • Partner with supervisors and employees to reinforce safety practices and positive accountability.
  • Support the Joint Health & Safety Committees (JHSC) at both sites through scheduling, minutes, and follow-ups.
  • Conduct or assist with inspections, hazard assessments, and internal audits.
  • Participate in incident and near-miss investigations, identify contributing factors, and track corrective actions.
  • Help monitor safety data, analyze trends, and suggest improvements.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Operations to ensure OHS practices align with HACCP, GMP, and FSMS requirements.
  • Assist with documentation for internal and external audits.
