Binnie has an exciting opportunity for a Health & Safety Administrator to join our head office near scenic Deer Lake in Burnaby full-time. This position will be supervised by the Corporate Safety Officer and will formally report to the Chief Administrative Officer. This position is primarily office-based, with occasional field, site, and office inspection requirements, with potential for increased field exposure as experience and company needs to evolve. You will champion a safety-first culture, informing staff and managers on pertinent safety issues and legislative compliance requirements. Requirements

  • Diploma or Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Basic working knowledge of the OH&S Act, regulations and industry best practices and standards in BC and Alberta
  • Comfortable working with digital systems and data tracking tools
  • Strong communication skills, and attention to detail

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in safety, compliance, or coordination role preferred
  • Exposure to COR or audit-based safety programs
  • Current OFA Intermediate certification

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and administer the company’s Safety Management System (SALUS)
  • Support COR audit preparation through organized documentation management and evidence tracking
  • Assist in maintaining safety-related content for external compliance platforms
  • Support bid and pre-qualification safety submissions
  • Track and compile monthly and quarterly safety statistics and performance metric
  • Monitor and follow up on safety orientation modules and training completion for new hires
  • Prepare materials for safety meetings, presentations, and newsletters
  • Assist with office inspections, emergency drills, and internal safety group
  • Investigate and report workplace incidents, hazardous conditions, refusal of unsafe work, and breaches of safety policy/procedure, under direction of Corporate Safety Officer
  • Participate in drills, safety meetings, and committee activities
  • Support project site visits as required
  • Working with others in a manner consistent with Binnie’s corporate values, including collaboration and respect
