About The Position

This position functions as a Health Educator within a multidisciplinary team, providing health education to adolescents in school and community-based settings. Key areas of education include healthy sexuality, prevention of STIs and unplanned pregnancy, substance/alcohol/tobacco prevention, and emotional well-being. The role involves developing, organizing, and facilitating psycho-educational groups, trainings, and classroom presentations for students, school administrators, teachers, and parents. Additionally, it includes providing one-on-one sessions with teens, administering STI tests on campus, delivering results, and connecting teens to treatment. The Health Resources Coordinator II works closely with other HRC staff, links adolescents and their families to community services, and participates in training peer health educators and others as requested. Duties may also extend to summer months and include attending all required trainings by the program director. The role assists in the development of health education materials for adolescents and operates according to all HRC protocols and policies. Responsibilities also include documenting and collecting information regarding services provided, representing BPHC and HRC at meetings, health fairs, and conferences, and collaborating with other BPHC programs. This job description is based on the Program Coordinator Series, and incumbents may be required to perform any and all duties and responsibilities of a Coordinator II as set forth in the BPHC Coordinator Series.

Requirements

  • BA/BS required OR 3 years of equivalent experience in public health program coordination, management and/or community organizing may be substituted for undergraduate degree.
  • Experience with urban, at-risk youth and their families.
  • Competency and sensitivity in working with racially and culturally diverse populations.
  • Knowledge and understanding of adolescent developmental issues.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating and implementing complex projects in the area of position.
  • Ability to write clear, concise reports and to follow and to give written and oral instructions in a precise, understandable manner.
  • Ability to understand, explain, apply the laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures of unit activities.
  • Ability to establish rapport with others and to maintain harmonious working relationship with others.
  • Advanced knowledge & experience with MSOffice, MSWord/Excel, SAS with the ability to analyze and interpret data.
  • Advanced experience with and knowledge of local community agencies and health care providers.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability of developing timelines and meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • Bi-lingual Spanish speaker preferred.

Responsibilities
