The Washington State Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Health Records Technician 2 for the Washington Corrections Center for Women located in Gig Harbor, WA. This full-time position is one of four records staff on the WCCW Health Services Administration team, responsible for managing all aspects of handling, management, and movement of legal documents. As a supervisor, this role manages and directs the operations and performance of health services support staff in the Health Records department, working closely with RHIT’s, OA3’s, and healthcare staff. The position reports to the Health Services Manager-1. Responsibilities include processing public disclosure requests for patient health information, performing statistical analysis of healthcare data, and analyzing processes and procedures while serving on WCCW and Health Care Quality Improvement committees. The Washington Corrections Center for Women (WCCW) is a 62.6-acre facility located approximately two miles from Gig Harbor, housing living units, administration buildings, a health clinic, education buildings, a gymnasium, a chapel, industries buildings, food service buildings, and support facilities. Correctional Health offers a rewarding career path at DOC, where healthcare professionals treat a wide array of cases for patients residing in a state correctional facility. Health Services is responsible for basic primary care for incarcerated individuals. All disciplines within all 12 correctional facilities work closely together to provide the best, most efficient, and cost-effective healthcare possible, with an emphasis on early identification of health concerns, care for acute and chronic health problems, and preventive care.
