About The Position

The Health Records Technician is responsible for checking in, assembling, and analyzing the medical records of discharged patients in an established departmental format, ensuring the completeness and accuracy of the medical record's contents. This role ensures the retrieval of all discharged records and the timely availability of quality scanned documents in the electronic medical record for patient care. Responsibilities include retrieval, reconciliation, preparation, scanning, quality control checks, and validation to ensure the highest quality of scanned documents in the electronic medical record. The technician will review, compile, index, and categorize documents, ensuring accuracy and routing them to the correct patient in the electronic medical record. A 100% quality review of scanned documents is conducted, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve related issues. Understanding that validation and completion of the quality review process ensures the integrity and legality of the electronic medical record is crucial.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in a medical records department or other office environment experience with medical record review processes and the processing of electronic medical records, preferred
  • Good organizational and analytical skills
  • Must have professional telephone manners and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Check-in, assemble and analyze the medical records of discharged patients in an established departmental format.
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of contents of the medical record.
  • Ensure the retrieval of all discharged records and the timely availability of quality scanned documents in the electronic medical record for patient care.
  • Perform retrieval, reconciliation, preparation, scanning, quality control checks and validation to ensure that all records scanned in the electronic medical record is of the highest quality possible.
  • Review, compile, index, and categorize documents to make sure documents are accurate and route to correct patient in the electronic medical record.
  • Conduct 100% quality review of scanned documents and troubleshoot and resolve issues related to documents.
  • Ensure integrity and legality of the electronic medical record through validation and completion of the quality review process.
