This Health Program Specialist 1 (Comprehensive Cancer Control Program Coordinator) position is located within the Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (CDPHP) Section of the Bureau of Child, Family, and Community Wellness, Division of Public and Behavioral Health, in Carson City, Nevada. The purpose of this position is to oversee and coordinate activities for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention-funded Comprehensive Cancer Control Program (CCCP). Responsibilities include grant management and oversight; convening partners; conducting outreach activities; and performing fiscal monitoring to ensure compliance with State and federal requirements. The position is responsible for building and maintaining strategic partnerships; conducting grant writing and reporting; implementing and overseeing program activities; and developing and monitoring the CCCP budget. The Coordinator will also monitor subrecipients and stakeholders and provide technical assistance to ensure adherence to all policies, procedures, and funding guidelines. Additionally, the CCCP Coordinator will lead reporting and strategic planning activities that address the burden of cancer in Nevada. Health Program Specialists plan, develop, implement, and evaluate health services and activities; conduct research and analyze health data and statistics; develop goals, objectives, program requirements and procedures; provide technical information regarding specialized health related conditions; and participate and provide support to various committees, advisory boards, and other work groups. Duties are related to one or more specialized health programs which operate on a statewide basis and focus on the prevention, early detection, treatment, education and tracking of data relevant to a specific communicable or chronic disease, maternal and child health, nutrition and other conditions which impact the health of under-served or target groups within the general population.
