About The Position

The Health Plan Services Specialist supports health plan and/or employee benefits administration, health care provider network administration, or utilization management. Candidates are evaluated on their training, education, experience, interest, and personal fitness for the position. The examination consists of an oral exam weighted at 100%; if there are too few candidates for an oral exam, Human Resources may assess application materials instead. Applicants must score at least 70% on each examination phase. A valid California Driver’s License is required upon appointment. A background check may be conducted, and post-offer medical and drug screening may be required at County expense. The examination establishes an eligible list for immediate appointments and other permanent or temporary appointments as needed; successful candidates generally remain on the list for twelve months unless otherwise specified by the Civil Service Commission.

Requirements

High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent, and one year of experience in health plan and/or employee benefits administration support, health care provider network administrative support, or utilization management support; or a combination of education and experience sufficient to obtain the knowledge and skills to perform the essential duties.
Possession of a valid California Driver’s License upon appointment.
Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process.
A valid government-issued photo identification is required for examination admission.
