About The Position

This role involves conducting open enrollment benefit presentations, handling inquiries from current and prospective members, and supporting benefit/health fairs. The advisor will strategically plan and organize seminars/workshops to promote HMSA's value proposition and employ selling skills to educate members on HMSA's ancillary products/services, health and well-being programs, and disease management. The position requires responding to member questions regarding plan benefits and provisions, resolving member complaints, and meeting marketing plan goals to contribute to sales revenue and membership growth. The advisor will work collaboratively within a cross-functional team, participate in account planning, and schedule sessions for accounts. They will utilize and potentially assist with updating existing materials, including health and well-being resources. Additionally, the role involves assisting with training and seminars for employer groups' HR administrators and decision-makers, educating them on group health plan benefits, HMSA programs, enrollment/billing procedures, and healthcare regulations. The advisor may also assist in developing new presentations and perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree and one (1) year of related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook/Email and PowerPoint.
  • Active license with the state of Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs or pass all four sections of the state licensing examination within three months of hire date.
  • Having an active license to sell Health, Life and Group Insurance products in the state of Hawaii is a condition of employment.
  • Driving required (50% or more of the essential duties in the job description requires traveling offsite) for business travel for meetings with employer groups.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license, with access to an automobile with current license, registration, and no-fault insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct open enrollment benefit presentations, handle member inquiries, and support benefit/health fairs.
  • Strategically plan, staff, coordinate, and organize seminars/workshops.
  • Promote, educate, and implement HMSA's ancillary products/services to existing and prospective members.
  • Respond to members' questions regarding plan benefits and provisions.
  • Resolve member complaints.
  • Meet marketing plan established goals and contribute to meeting annual sales revenue and membership growth objectives.
  • Work in a cross functional team.
  • Participate in the account planning process.
  • Schedule sessions for the account ahead of time.
  • Use existing or lightly customized materials/communication or agendas for seminars.
  • Learn and understand the content of Open Enrollment materials, and may assist with material updates.
  • Assist in conducting training and/or seminars for employer groups' Human Resource administrators and/or group decision makers.
  • Educates and advises administrators regarding their group health plan benefits and provisions, HMSA programs, the enrollment, billing and payment policies and procedures, and health care regulations.
  • Assists with the development of new presentations to support business objectives.
  • Performs all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned or directed.
