Health Physics Technician III/Sr.
About The Position
The Radiological Protection division invites you to consider applying for our Health Physics Technician opening. In this role, you will provide field and laboratory support for the Radiological Protection Program. You will measure, assess, and document radiological conditions in the workplace. In this position, you will: Complete required tasks without extensive supervision - critical thinking and problem solving are required Engage and support research scientists and engineers with considerable interpersonal skill Operate in a professional, single-site multidisciplinary science and engineering research center, with consistent schedule and work/life balance Receive continued training and instruction Have future opportunities to advance your career while remaining with the Lab
Requirements
- Comprehensive knowledge of radiation monitoring instruments and equipment including, but not limited to accelerator facilities, bench tops, glove boxes, hoods, and novel instrumentation.
- Completion of DOE mandated radiological training and on-going continuous education coursework, as specified, is a requirement for this position, required to pass after two weeks.
- Interpersonal and communication skills required to interact effectively and tactfully with internal customers and to successfully develop effective working relationships.
- Capability to wear Respirators and protective suits as part of the PPE program.
- Ability to model Argonne’s core values: Impact, Safety, Respect, Integrity, and Teamwork.
- Associate degree and with 2 or more years of related experience, or equivalent (for Health Physics Technician III).
- Associate degree with 5 or more years of related experience, or equivalent (for Sr. Health Physics Technician).
Nice To Haves
- Some experience in customer service environment is preferred.
