About The Position

Supervises program activities by planning, implementing and ensuring quality services; consults and educates health care providers and the public, and serves as a liaison with outside agencies. Management Scope: Supervises nursing and support staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Nursing.
  • Three (3) years of professional work related experience, including one (1) year supervisory experience.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas.
  • Knowledge of standard software applications.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments and the general public.
  • Possess a valid Texas Driver’s License, with good driving record and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Interprets and implements agency policies and program goals, providing supervision and direction to staff in the performance of duties.
  • Provides consultation and education to health care providers and to the public regarding health issues.
  • Coordinates health programs; develops and promotes public relations with other agencies; and attends meetings on the local, state and national level.
  • Identifies and tracks trends and outbreaks in reportable disease/conditions, and provides reports of activities and statistical information.
  • Creates and recommends the implementation of policies and procedures for the control of diseases, outbreaks of diseases and emergency preparedness plans.
  • Makes staff assignments; hires and orientates new staff; conducts evaluations; monitors time and attendance; and participates in budget preparation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
