About The Position

JAMHI Health & Wellness, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and mission-driven Health Information Specialist to support the accurate, timely, and secure management of health information across our integrated primary care, behavioral health, and community-based services. We’re looking for someone who brings strong attention to detail, sound judgment, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to protecting patient information while supporting efficient, high-quality care. Under the direction of the Director of Revenue, you’ll manage release-of-information requests, process and index incoming records and documents, maintain health information workflows, complete approved chart corrections, and support record retention, audits, and legal health record requests. You’ll also monitor work queues and service levels to ensure timely completion of assigned health information functions. You will work closely with clinical, front-desk, billing, revenue cycle, and operational leaders to identify documentation, billing, registration, scheduling, and other record-related errors. You’ll run and reconcile reports, track key performance measures, identify trends and recurring sources of rework, and provide accurate exception information to the managers responsible for correction and follow-through. Through strong attention to detail, collaboration, and data-driven reporting, you’ll help JAMHI improve billing readiness, reduce errors, strengthen revenue integrity, and ensure the integrity and confidentiality of our patients’ health information.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or high school equivalent (GED)
  • Three years of progressively responsible medical records, health-information, revenue-cycle support, medical office, or closely related clerical experience that include accurate data entry and document processing
  • Experience using an EHR
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check in accordance with the current state regulation requirements
  • Valid Alaska driver’s license
  • Able to clear the JAMHI auto insurance screening through the independent insurance carrier if driving
