Health Information Specialist
About The Position
Responsible for a variety of tasks in health information services such as; processing electronic and paper health information for the release of information; data analysis to ensure completeness of records for chart completion; retrieval, prepping, scanning and indexing of paper documentation. Responsible for extracting information for a medical record that is relevant for clinical care. Responsible for building the chart recommendation patient health profiles between EMR databases. Assists with performing weekly audits to ensure chart prep is complete and all other department tasks are following appropriate timelines. Responds to requests from Clinical staff for charts or medical information.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Computer experience required
Nice To Haves
- Minimum of two years’ experience in Medical Records setting preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology desirable
