About The Position

Virginia Western Community College is seeking part-time Health Information Management Adjunct Faculty to teach college-level courses supporting Health Information Management Career Studies Certificates and the Medical Administrative Management Specialization A.A.S. degree. These programs prepare students for careers in medical office management, medical coding, and medical billing. Courses may include medical office procedures, health information management, medical coding, electronic billing, and administrative technologies. Classes can be taught in-person, hybrid, or online. Faculty are expected to stay current in their teaching disciplines and community college education trends, and to participate actively in departmental communication. Positions are appointed on a course-by-course, semester basis as needed.

Requirements

Master's degree in Health Information Management or a related field, or a Bachelor's degree with significant, relevant professional experience.
Experience in health information management, medical coding, or medical billing.
Ability to teach courses such as medical office procedures, health information management, medical coding, electronic billing, and administrative technologies.
Willingness to teach in-person, hybrid, or online formats.

Nice To Haves

Previous teaching experience, particularly at the community college level.
Experience with distance learning or online course delivery.
