Health Informatics Specialist

Virtelligence•Philadelphia, PA

About The Position

The Health Informatics Specialist III is an experienced informatics nurse and internal consultant who partners with Clinical, Business, and Digital & Technology Services (DTS) teams to support the design, implementation, adoption, and interoperability of clinical and non-clinical information systems across the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) enterprise. The role contributes to enterprise, capital, and operational projects, applying process improvement, change management, and clinical informatics methods to reduce harm and risk, optimize workflows and care delivery, and evaluate integrated technologies. The position calls for expertise in telehealth implementation, remote patient monitoring, clinical workflow redesign, and healthcare operations, as well as the ability to engage stakeholders and support sustainable adoption of digital health solutions. A key responsibility is transferring knowledge and expertise across the Enterprise Health Informatics (EHI) team and internal stakeholders so critical virtual care or domain knowledge is not held by a single consultant. The specialist serves as a liaison between DTS and clinical and non-clinical end users; builds partnerships with clinical and operational leaders; leads unit-level teams for initiatives and implementations; and consults on healthcare information needs and DTS solutions. The role supports system life-cycle changes, quality improvement, risk-benefit analysis, workflow assessment and redesign, requirements gathering, project planning, testing, validation, integration, and adoption. It also supports research, education, scholarly activities, mentoring, and the development of reusable implementation resources. For virtual care and digital health, the specialist assesses existing services, designs future-state workflows, contributes to roadmaps and governance, defines evaluation measures, gathers requirements, facilitates discovery and design sessions, supports vendor and solution assessments, coordinates readiness, participates in testing and issue resolution, and supports implementation and ongoing optimization. Responsibilities should align with the existing work practices of CHOP’s informatics teams.
