Requirements

  • Bachelor level degree in business or public administration, community planning or communications, or a relevant degree or combination of education, training and experience in successful grant and contract writing totaling six (6) years.
  • Experience as a professional grant writer.
  • Extensive knowledge of grant maker research and grant proposal development.
  • Strong writing skills and the ability to produce high-quality reports and documentation.
  • Excellent communication proficiency both verbal and written.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment interacting with all levels of management and staff and changing direction as business needs dictate in a positive and professional manner.
  • Computer proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook, FileMaker Pro).
  • Willingness to learn database software and census/data resource software owned by Reno-Sparks Indian Colony.
  • Must have a current Nevada driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an outpatient multi-disciplinary clinic with working knowledge of their operations preferred.
  • Ability to work individually or as part of a team in RSTHC grant research and proposal development as well as within the established submission deadlines of each individual grant maker.

Responsibilities

  • Identify departmental funding needs and research private and public funding sources or prospects.
  • Prepare and present for approval grant or contract funding applications and application renewal, ensuring consistency with RSIC Grant and Contracts policies, procedures and practices.
  • Complete extensive research of nonprofit foundations, corporate sponsors, government programs and individual donors to collect data and identify viable funding opportunities.
  • Review and analyze Federal, State and local funding initiatives and regulations to ensure accurate documentation and compliance.
  • Interact with a variety of individuals of various RSIC administration departments to ensure grants and contracts are consistent with RSIC financial and administrative policies, procedures and practices.
  • Ensure timely submittal of funding proposals and documents.
  • Establish and maintain original grant or contract proposal files.
  • Complete all stages of grant proposal development including confirmation of RSTHC project/program objectives, contact with the grant maker for clarification of grant guidelines, and development of letters of inquiry, online applications and formal proposals.
  • Properly maintain follow-up contact with the grant maker regarding the status, results, and potential feedback.
  • Identify grant makers whose funding missions match RSTHC funding needs and document findings for organization review/approval and entry into RSTHC databases.
  • Develop and maintain a working relationship with funding agencies/sources to provide necessary clarification on grant or contract proposal requirements.
  • Manage or implement specific grant/contract programs as assigned.
  • Proofread and edit text for correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, concise and easy to understand language that appropriately communicates in a positive and honest manner, RSTHC planning research and strategic vision in regard to its funding request.
  • Prepare and submit monthly grant writing activity reports to supervisor and Tribal Council.
  • Establish and maintain grant/contract monitoring, tracking and reporting system in coordination with Finance Department to assure timely and accurate reporting compliance.
  • Inform supervisor and Finance Department of the general and special provisions of each original grant or contract award as submitted (Allowable expenses, budget amounts, time frame, reporting etc.).
  • Directly responsible for coordination and compilation of RSTHC demographic data statistics and resource information as it relates to and for grant awards comprehensive planning and program development.
  • Assist in maintaining RSTHC databases of grant proposal text and grant prospects.
  • Provide appropriate training relating to new and/or updated funding sources, procedures, new or revised program development processes and procedures to appropriate RSTHC staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
