About The Position

Summit County is recruiting for a Health Educator to perform a variety of entry-level professional duties related to planning, coordinating, and implementing healthy lifestyles and health education strategies for the general population within Summit County. This role promotes healthy lifestyles through media promotions, work site health maintenance program promotion, school and business workshops, and healthy living awareness activities. The position works under the close to general supervision of the Health Promotion Director. The hiring of a Health Educator I or II will depend on submitted qualifications and experience. The job closes on 08/26/26.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in health education or related field.
  • Must possess valid State of Utah driver’s license.

  • Ability to manage time and competing priorities effectively, including planning for events, deadlines, and occasional evening or weekend activities.

Responsibilities

  • Implement health education strategies related to chronic disease, tobacco cessation, and injury prevention.
  • Conduct classroom education, health fairs, community events, outreach activities, and promotional programs throughout the county.
  • Organize specialty programs and health education activities.
  • Develop and deliver educational materials, workshops, and informational programs on public health topics.
  • Provide evidence-based resources such as books, videos, journal articles, and other educational materials.
  • Support data collection, reporting, and basic program evaluation.
  • Work with the county Epidemiologist and Utah Department of Health and Human Services to analyze health data, identify trends, and determine program priorities.
  • Prepare health-related articles and information for newspapers, radio, digital platforms, and county newsletters.
  • Keep the public informed about health issues, concerns, legislation, and available programs.
  • Stay current on local health data, public health trends, and emerging community needs.
  • Participate in coalitions, community meetings, and partner events to build relationships and identify gaps in services.
  • Assist other county departments with health education resources, materials, and program guidance.
  • Manage time and competing priorities effectively, including planning for events, deadlines, and occasional evening or weekend activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on departmental needs.
