About The Position

Reporting to the Manager of Primary Health Care, the Health Promotion Coordinator, as part of the Mental Health and Addictions team, is primarily responsible for assessing health promotion needs of the Network and coordinating, planning, implementing and evaluating programs which are directed towards population health promotion and disease prevention for the Network, with a focus on mental well-being and substance use and abuse. Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement.

Requirements

• Bachelor degree in Community Development, Social Sciences, or Health Education
• Critical thinking skills
• Analytical skills
• Presentation skills
• Knowledge in health promotion and prevention strategies
• Knowledge in population health promotion and its relationship to health status
• Knowledge in Population Health Promotion current research on strategies/outcomes
• Facilitation, consultation, listening and other relationship-building skills
• Proficient in the operation of word processing, spreadsheet and power point
• Ability to be flexible and willing to change
• Ability to be innovative and creative
• Demonstrated understanding of community development principles
• Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Tact, diplomacy and ability to represent the Dept. in the public or in the media
• Integrity, values based and reflective practitioner
• Must possess a valid driver's license and have a vehicle available for work.

Responsibilities
