About The Position

The Health Educator - Senior position specializes in stimulating, coordinating, and delivering oral health prevention and promotion activities in the community. This position is responsible for a leadership role in the community related to community development, advocacy, and public relations. Requirements

  • Graduate from a recognized Dental Therapy program
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license
  • Basic Communication skills
  • Basic Time management skills
  • Basic Organizational skills
  • Basic Computer skills
  • Knowledge in population health promotion and its relationship to health status
  • Ability to interact in a positive and culturally appropriate manner
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Knowledge of current scientific info/research/best practice in oral health
  • Knowledge in oral health and overall health relationship
  • Knowledge in population health promotion approaches and community development
  • Registered/eligible for registration with the appropriate licensing body
  • Ability and willingness to work evenings/weekends as required

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate from a recognized Dental Hygenist program is also acceptable

Responsibilities

  • Stimulating, coordinating, and delivering oral health prevention and promotion activities in the community.
  • Taking a leadership role in the community related to community development, advocacy, and public relations.
  • Diagnosing dental decay/abscesses and identifying oral abnormalities.
  • Advocating for the delivery of culturally safe, responsive & people-centered healthcare.
