About The Position

This is a Career Service (CS) Health Educator Consultant position working for the Lee County Health Department. The incumbent in this position is under the supervision of the Health Promotion Program Administrator-SES. This position is responsible for executing the strategic direction of the health promotion and wellness program in alignment with the mission and vision of the Florida Department of Health in Lee County (DOH-Lee). Job responsibilities will focus heavily on achieving deadline driven deliverables and reporting of Healthy Communities of Florida initiative strategy areas. Additionally, this position will build upon and strengthen existing community initiatives that promote a healthier community while expanding new community partners. This position is classified as a security sensitive and must adhere to Department of Health, HIPAA, and Information Security policies, protocols, and procedures. Incumbent is responsible to abide by State/Federal laws governing health information.

Requirements

  • Possess a valid driver's license and have a motor vehicle to carry out job duties.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes healthy lifestyles and educates the public on health issues, including chronic disease prevention, physical activity, nutrition, workplace wellness, tobacco cessation, and trauma.
  • Conducts presentations for community groups and workplace wellness programs on topics such as obesity prevention, healthy living, and chronic disease management.
  • Actively participates in local health fairs, outreach events, worksite wellness fairs, and special events to share DOH‑Lee educational materials and health messages.
  • Serves as an organizing committee member for selected health fairs and participates in community health initiatives that support DOH priority areas.
  • Assist with community needs assessments to help determine the health status and needs of Lee County residents.
  • Ensures all strategy deliverables within the Healthy Communities of Florida initiative are completed by established deadlines.
  • Maintains the timeliness and accuracy of monthly, quarterly, and annual Healthy Communities of Florida reports in accordance with program guidelines.
  • Provides data to the Program Administrator‑SES regarding Health Promotion activities, successes, and impactful actions for inclusion in the DOH‑Lee annual community report.
  • Attends all Healthy Communities of Florida webinars and reviews the SharePoint site weekly for updates to strategy areas, educational materials, and announcements.
  • Incorporates Healthy Communities of Florida educational materials into DOH‑Lee outreach tables at health fairs, community events, and special events.
  • Serves as the Lee County Health Liaison coordinating, implementing, and monitoring Health Improvement Plan activities to advance priority health areas within the county.
  • Facilitates meetings, gathers and reports data, supports project tasks, and ensures accountability across initiatives.
  • Will lead or co‑lead quarterly community Taskforce meetings, expand community partnerships, and identify relevant data sources to support health priorities.
  • Will track project goals and report outcomes as required and provide regular progress updates to Taskforce members and Program Administrator-SES.
  • Will identify training and grant opportunities for staff and partners, and disseminate resources, and best practices to stakeholders.
  • Additional responsibilities include participating in professional development and responding to information requests from OMH.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
