About The Position

NCIA is seeking a Health Education Teacher to join our non-public special education school program. In this role, you’ll create engaging health education lessons while supporting students with diverse academic, developmental, behavioral, and medical needs. You’ll help students build the knowledge, confidence, and life skills they need to make healthy choices and achieve greater success.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Health Education, Education, or a closely related field.
Teaching, student-teaching, or related health education experience.
Maryland educator certification with the appropriate Health Education endorsement, or eligibility to obtain required certification.
Strong communication, classroom-management, and relationship-building skills.
Valid Maryland driver’s license with fewer than three points.
Ability to meet required background, fingerprinting, screening, CPR, and First Aid requirements.

Experience in special education or supporting students with diverse needs is preferred.

Responsibilities

Deliver engaging, standards-aligned health education instruction.
Teach wellness, nutrition, mental and emotional health, safety, disease prevention, and healthy decision-making.
Differentiate instruction to support individual learning needs and IEP goals.
Create a structured, supportive, trauma-informed classroom environment.
Monitor student progress and maintain required educational documentation.
Collaborate with teachers, counselors, clinicians, behavior staff, families, and other professionals.
Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to student goals and progress.
Use approved behavioral support, de-escalation, and safety practices.
